Don't miss it!  April is North Carolina Beer Month ,  and nearby Franklin is the place to be!

An Appalachian Trail community, with a trailhead at nearby Winding Stair Gap and a go-to place for thru hikers,  Franklin is a delightful historic and friendly small town, with great restaurants, an independent bookstore, fabulous yarn shop, outdoors shop and outfitter, the gem and mineral museum and the museum of Scottish heritage, a lovely greenway and dog park on the Little Tennessee River...and now, with two spectacular craft breweries & taprooms, The Lazy Hiker , and Currahee Brewing Company.   Both have wonderful food trucks - The Lazy Hiker hosts a wonderful food truck run by Casey Williams, formerly the manager of numerous pubs across England - you must try the fish and chips, his specialty!  The Currahee Brewing food truck is run by Mountain Fresh Grocery, a wonderful whole foods grocery in Highlands.  The Lazy Hiker is right in downtown Franklin with a great outdoor patio and live music events; Currahee Brewing has a beautiful patio right on the Little Tennessee River - and both are Fido friendly, inside and out.

Mountain Brook Lodge and Cottages still has weekend packages available April 14 - 17, and Cottages 9 - 15 (including the three Cottage*Plus! cottages) available April 18 - May 1.  There's no better way to enjoy the cool spring breezes and watch the mountains "greening up" than with a tall local cool one or two during North Carolina Beer Month...call for reservations!
